Still more pics from the 742nd SMS picnic, 1977

The top picture is Jeff Fedrizzi (in the hat and sunglasses) sitting next to Debbie Durr at the picnic table.  I would spend a few weeks staying with the Fedrizzis when I transferred to the Academy before my house was finished.  It was a difficult few weeks for me and probably for them.  His wife could be difficult though Jeff and I got along fine.

The bottom picture is Terry Stahl on the left and Mike Durr, holding Christie.  Terry's wife would kick him out on Christmas Eve because she found someone else whom she would soon marry.  That officer would leave his wife and kids for Terry's wife.  A few years later, I would meet that other officer's wife when she also worked for the same company I did in Colorado Springs after I was forced to resign from the Air Force.

I suppose it wasn't all that surprising that during a somewhat isolated assignment in North Dakota that some marriages would implode.   Many of these men and women met while they were in college, and this was the first time they'd been seriously exposed to other potential partners elsewhere under the pressure of being a military family.  The one officer who would later marry Terry's wife was an Academy grad who only married his first wife because neither thought they'd find someone else to marry.
