Greg at Ports O' Call Village, circa 1975

Mom certainly loved living in San Pedro, CA, from 1976 or so until we were forced to move her to an assisted living facility in 2002, a couple of months before she died.

One of the places she especially enjoyed visiting and having coffee was Ports O' Call Village, only a few blocks away.

She made friends with a woman who worked at a shop there, Wings.

Before she was hit by a guy riding a bicycle on a sidewalk in Long Beach, she also used to ride her own bike down to Ports O' Call and visit other friends she'd made there.

I always made sure, especially around Christmas time, whenever I visited, that we stopped into Ramona bakery to buy baked goods for the holiday season.

Some of the ships with masts and rigging are in the background in this picture.
